Tried and tested

A naturally shed Highland deer antler, this is one of the hardest, longest lasting chews there is, and it's low odour and low mess too. Antlers are naturally packed with minerals, and being shed each year they're a sustainable, single ingredient chew. Ryan, one of our IMDT qualified trainers, recommends antlers for dedicated adult chewers that need a serious, long lasting project, with the same honesty we give all very hard chews, it's about supervision and knowing your dog. For puppies and gentler dogs, an antler is best offered for gentle gnawing under supervision rather than hard cracking. Choose the right size for your dog.

About this chew

Description

Highland antlers are a natural, single ingredient chew, naturally rich in minerals like calcium and phosphorus. They're extremely durable and one of the longest lasting chews available, as well as low odour, low mess and low fat. Because deer shed their antlers naturally each year, they're a sustainable chew. As an extremely hard chew, it's a slow wearing project for committed chewers rather than a consumable treat.

Feeding & chew guidance
Low fat and mostly gnawed rather than ingested, so calories are not the concern with this one. Fine as a regular chew for most dogs. Count it into the day's food rather than adding it on top.
Storage
Keep somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight. Once the bag is open, reseal it or tip it into an airtight tub.
Safety & supervision
This is a very hard chew, so please choose it with care. As with any hard chew there is a risk of tooth damage, so it's best suited to confident chewers rather than dogs that bite down aggressively or try to crack it. Always supervise, provide fresh water, and choose a size larger than your dog's mouth. Take it away once it wears down to a size that could be swallowed. Best offered to puppies only for gentle supervised gnawing, not hard chewing. If your dog has any dental issues, check with your vet before giving very hard chews.

Your questions, answered

Are antlers long lasting?
Yes, they're one of the hardest and longest lasting natural chews, ideal for dedicated chewers.
Are antlers safe for dogs?
As a very hard chew there is a risk of tooth damage, so supervision is essential and they suit sensible chewers rather than aggressive crackers. Choose the right size and take it away as it wears down.
Are antlers sustainable?
Yes, deer shed their antlers naturally each year, so they're a sustainable, single ingredient chew.
Are antlers suitable for puppies?
We recommend them from 6 months, once adult teeth are through, and not for teething puppies. Even then, offer for gentle supervised gnawing rather than hard cracking.
